10. One Sunday, Jesus was talking to people in one of the outer rooms at a church. In the room was a disabled woman, bent over, compeltely unable to straighten up, who had been like that for eighteen years. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, "My dear lady, you are free from your disability." Then he put his hands on her, and as he did so, she stood up straight, praising God.
A church official, angry about what Jesus was doing, said to the people, "God gave us six days for work; so come and be healed on those days, not on a Sunday!"
15. Jesus replied, "Don't be stupid! Everyone gives water to his livestock or pets on a Sunday? Surely it is right and proper that an honest citizen, gripped by this evil for eighteen long years, should be freed on a Sunday?" When he said this, his opponents were humiliated, but the ordinary people were delighted with all the great things he said and did.
